Dr. Stephen Booth – Midlothian Dentist
Dr. Steve Booth was born in Madison, Wisconsin, and was raised in Williamsburg, Virginia. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from the College of William and Mary, where he also played collegiate baseball. Following graduation, Dr. Booth attended dental school at Virginia Commonwealth University, where he graduated magna cum laude. While in dental school, he received other academic honors, including four consecutive years on the Dean’s List, a Commonwealth Scholarship based on academic merit, appointment to the Honor Council for four years, appointment as co-chair for the New Dentist Committee, appointment as a student instructor, and placement on the student admissions committee.
Dr. Booth joined Dr. Penterson in 2005 and also works part-time as a dentist for the Commonwealth of Virginia. Presently, he is a member of the American Dental Association, the Virginia Dental Association, the Richmond Dental Society, and the Academy of General Dentistry. In his spare time, Dr. Booth enjoys sports, outdoor activities, traveling, and spending time with friends and family.
When asked about his thoughts concerning the practice, Dr. Booth stated, “I am very excited to be a part of such an outstanding dental practice. Our facility is state of the art, and our team is highly skilled and devoted to making our patients’ visits as enjoyable as possible. It is a great place to practice. Dr. Penterson has always been very supportive, and Lynn is a great asset with her personality and her dental abilities. Lastly, I am very grateful to have the opportunity to meet so many wonderful people as patients and co-workers.”
Dr. Lynn Penterson Booth – Midlothian Dentist
Dr. Lynn Booth was married to Dr.Steve Booth in 2005. She was raised in the Midlothian area and is a graduate of Clover Hill High School. She also attended Virginia Tech where she graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in the Science of Nutrition, Foods, and Exercise. Dr. Lynn Booth graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University Dental School in May 2007. While in school, she volunteered her time as a student teacher in operative dentistry and spent time continuing her training in Invisalign orthodontics. In her spare time, she enjoys traveling, cooking, tennis, skiing, running, entertaining, and spending time with family and friends. She is a mom to three wonderful girls, Caroline, Madelynn, and Kamryn. They keep her very busy when she is not at work.
When asked about her future in dentistry, Lynn replied, “I am enjoying working in a family practice with both my father and husband. We have the opportunity to pursue our individual interests within the dental field, which adds to the service we provide our patients. I enjoy working with children and believe we provide a fun, caring, and comfortable dental experience for them. I am also a Preferred Provider for Invisalign and enjoy using this tool along with other cosmetic procedures to satisfy patients’ desires and improve their smiles. A smile goes a long way, and it is extremely rewarding to me if I can be a part of making someone more confident about their smile.”
Dr. Robert Penterson – Midlothian Dentist
Dr. Penterson has been practicing dentistry in Midlothian, VA, for over 25 years. He grew up in Mount Kisco, New York, and attended Lehigh University where he graduated magna cum laude with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering. After college, Dr. Penterson was employed as a mechanical engineer for four years, while also attending George Washington University, where he received an MBA degree in Finance. He moved to the Richmond area in 1977 with his wife, Cathy, to attend the Virginia Commonwealth University School of Dentistry and graduated in 1981 with the student award for excellence in periodontics. Dr. Penterson is a member of the Midlothian Dental Study Club, Titanium Implant Study Club, Richmond Dental Society, Virginia Dental Association, American Dental Association and the Academy of General Dentistry. He served on the Board of Directors for the Richmond Dental Society from 2002 to 2005 and teaches part-time at the VCU School of Dentistry.
Dr. Penterson and his wife, Cathy, reside in Midlothian, VA, and have three children. Lynn joined the practice in May of 2007. Christine is living in Florida and Stephen will be at JMU. In his spare time, Dr. Penterson enjoys skiing, boating, tennis, golf, woodworking, motorcycle riding, and reading.
When asked why he likes dentistry, Dr. Penterson replied, “Dentistry provides me the opportunity to draw from everything I’ve learned to develop creative solutions for my patients’ problems. I love working with my hands, and it gives me great satisfaction knowing I have improved a patient’s smile or relieved their pain. At the end of the day, I feel I have contributed something worthwhile to society. Over the years, I have met a lot of interesting people and made a lot of friends.”
Dr. Leigh Blakiston – Midlothian Dentist
Dr. Leigh Blakiston is originally from southwestern Pennsylvania. She graduated from Pennsylvania State University with a Bachelors of Science in Nursing and went on to serve 5 years as an active duty nurse in the United States Navy. During that time she deployed to Kuwait for Operation Iraqi Freedom and was on board the USNS Comfort for Hurricane Katrina Relief. While in the Navy, Dr. Leigh set forth on her new path towards a career in dentistry. She resigned from the navy after marrying her husband Ed, a Marine, and lived in California and Northern Virginia while obtaining her pre-requisites for dental school at California State University Monterey Bay, University of California Santa Cruz, and George Mason University. Leigh attended dental school at Virginia Commonwealth University and graduated with a Doctor of Dental Surgery Degree. During dental school, Dr. Leigh and her husband welcomed three wonderful boys into their family. After graduation, she practiced in the Hampton Roads area. Upon her husband’s retirement from the Marine Corps they returned to Midlothian; the place where they want to settle down and call home. She enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, running and playing soccer.
